This Privacy Policy describes how GridHabits ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the GridHabits mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). GridHabits is operated by Avez Khatri, a sole trader based in Leicester, United Kingdom.
By using GridHabits, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you sign in to GridHabits, we receive limited information from your chosen sign-in provider:
- Sign in with Apple: Your name (if you choose to share it), a unique identifier, and an email address. You may choose to hide your real email and use a private relay email provided by Apple, which we will store in place of your real address.
- Sign in with Google: Your name, email address, profile picture URL, and a unique Google account identifier.
You may also use GridHabits without signing in. In that case, your data is stored only on your device.
1.2 Information You Create
When you use GridHabits, you create habit-tracking data, including:
- Habit names and emojis you choose
- Daily completion records (which habits you ticked on which dates)
- Recovery actions (when you mark a past day as "forgot to add", "completed late", or "cheat day")
- Personal preferences (theme, notification times, custom streak emojis)
1.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we automatically collect:
- Basic technical information needed to operate the Service (request timestamps, error logs)
- Subscription status from RevenueCat (whether you have an active subscription, plan type, expiry date)
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or cross-site tracking technologies.
1.4 Information We Do Not Collect
GridHabits does not collect:
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Photos or media from your device
- Health or fitness data from Apple Health or Google Fit
- Advertising identifiers
- Browsing history or behaviour outside the app
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Service (sync your habits across devices, calculate streaks, send reminder notifications)
- Authenticate you when you sign in
- Process subscription payments through Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat
- Communicate important Service-related updates if necessary (such as security notices)
- Diagnose technical issues and improve the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information to:
- Sell or rent your personal information to third parties
- Show you advertisements
- Train artificial intelligence models
- Build advertising profiles
How We Store and Protect Your Information
3.1 Storage Location
Your habit data and account information are stored on:
- Your device: Local storage via your device's native storage system
- Our backend servers: Hosted on Render (United States) with database storage on MongoDB Atlas (United States)
If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions, your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the service providers' own privacy frameworks to safeguard such transfers.
3.2 Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
- Session tokens with limited lifetimes
- Restricted access to production systems
- Regular security review of dependencies
No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
3.3 Retention
We retain your account information and habit data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal information from our active systems immediately. Some information related to past subscription payments may be retained by our payment processors (Apple, Google, RevenueCat) as required by their billing systems and applicable tax or accounting law, and is outside our direct control.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate GridHabits. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store: handles iOS app distribution and in-app purchases. Apple Privacy Policy
- Google Play Store: handles Android app distribution and in-app purchases. Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat: processes subscription state and webhooks. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- MongoDB Atlas: hosts our database. MongoDB Privacy Policy
- Render: hosts our backend servers. Render Privacy Policy
- Apple Sign In service: authenticates Apple users.
- Google Sign In service: authenticates Google users.
These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their function. We do not share your data with any other third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal information
- Data portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to certain uses of your information
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent previously given

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children's Privacy
GridHabits is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or under the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time directly within the app. To do so:
- Open GridHabits
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Read the warning, wait for the confirmation timer, then confirm
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your data cannot be recovered after you confirm.
Alternatively, you may email us at the address below and we will process your request promptly.
Account deletion permanently removes:
- Your authentication record
- All habits, completions, and recovery records
- Your preferences and settings
- Your active sessions across all devices
- Subscription audit records on our servers
Please note that deleting your GridHabits account does NOT cancel any active subscription. Subscriptions must be cancelled separately through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. We do not have the ability to cancel your subscription on your behalf.
Records held by our payment processors (Apple, Google, RevenueCat) regarding past subscription payments may be retained by those services as required by their billing systems and applicable law, and are outside our direct control.
International Users
GridHabits is operated from the United Kingdom and uses servers in the United States. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws than your home country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- For significant changes, showing an in-app notice or sending an email if you have provided one
Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Service and may delete your account.
